1,3-diolein, 2-NBD-X ester is a green-fluorescent derivative of triacylglycerol for studying lipid transfer activities in live cells. The NBD fluorescence is environmentally dependent with optimal excitation near 465 nm and fluorescent emission near 521 nm. This compound has been used for investigations of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein function.
