6-Chloro-7-hydroxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid, C₅-maleimide is a thiol-reactive blue-fluorescent dye for synthesis of blue-fluorescent biomolecules. The maleimide group is selective for reaction with thiol groups on peptides, proteins, and other thiol-containing biomolecules when reacted at pH below 7.5. Conjugates of 6-Chloro-7-hydroxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid, C₅-maleimide are excited near 390 nm with a pH-dependent fluorescence emission near 442 nm.
