Pluronic F-127 *Trademark of BASF-Wyandotte is a poloxamer, a nonionic triblock copolymer composed of a central hydrophobic chain of polyoxypropylene (poly (propylene oxide)) flanked by two hydrophilic chains of polyoxyethylene (poly(ethylene oxide)). Poloxamers are also known by the trade name Pluronics. Pluronic F127 may aid the solubilization of water-insoluble dyes and other hydrophobic materials in physiological media. Pluronic F127 has been used for solubilizing large dye molecules such as Fura-2, AM (product 6165), Fluo-3, AM (product 6136), Indo-1, AM (product 6080) and Rhod-2, AM (product 7183) in cell media to facilitate cell loading. Pluronic has also used in cell culture media for its cell cushioning effects.
