5,5'-Dibromo BAPTA, tetrapotassium salt is a water-soluble, cell membrane-impermeant metal chelator that is relatively selective for Ca²⁺ ions. 5,5'-Dibromo BAPTA, tetrapotassium salt is commonly used as an intracellular Ca²⁺ buffer for investigations of the role of cytosolic Ca²⁺ and may also be used to buffer extracellular Ca²⁺ and to formulate calcium buffers with defined Ca²⁺ concentrations.
