5-FAM alkyne is a green-fluorescent dye that is reactive with azides using copper catalyzed click chemistry. Click chemistry is favored for labeling and detection of target molecules because the highly selective labeling reaction is fast and efficient with few side products, requires no special solvents or temperatures, and yields a stable linkage between the target and the label. 5-FAM is a commonly used fluorescent label for proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids. 5-FAM alkyne is excited near 494 and has a pH dependent fluorescent emission near 519 nm. .
