3-Cyanoumbelliferone is a blue-fluorescent dye that is commonly used as a reference standard in Cytochrome P450 enzymatic activity assays. The ethyl ether of 3-Cyanoumbelliferone, 3-Cyano-7-ethoxycoumarin (Product 6099), is a commonly used fluorescent substrate for Cytochrome P450 isoform CYP1A1. 3-Cyanoumbelliferone has a lower pKa than related coumarin dyes and is fluorescent at neutral pH, making this dye a preferred fluorophore for enzymatic assays performed at physiological pH. 3-Cyanoumbelliferone is excited at near 408 nm with emission near 450 nm.
