Rhodamine 6G chloride is a cell-permeant yellow-fluorescent dye that has applications in staining the functioning mitochondria of live cells. At low concentration loading in live cells, Rhodamine 6G accumulates in active mitochondria and when loaded at higher concentrations, the endoplasmic reticulum may also be stained. Rhodamine 6G is also an inhibitor of F1-ATPase and a potent inhibitor of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Rhodamine 6G is excited near 528 nm and has a fluorescence emission near 551 nm. .
