BAPTA, Tetrapotassium salt is a water soluble, cell membrane-impermeant metal chelator that is relatively selective for Ca²⁺ ions. BAPTA, Tetrapotassium salt is commonly used as a high affinity, intracellular Ca²⁺ buffer for investigations of the role of cytosolic Ca²⁺ and may also be used to buffer extracellular calcium ions and to formulate calcium buffers with defined Ca²⁺ concentrations. BAPTA, Tetrapotassium salt may be loaded into live cells by microinjection, patch pipette infusion, scrape loading, bead loading, or ATP-induced permeabilization. This is the tetrapotassium salt form of BAPTA for use in applications that are not perturbed by potassium ions. .
