The Hoechst 33258, 33342 and 34580 are cell permeant minor groove –binding DNA stains that are excited by UV light and fluoresce bright blue upon binding to DNA. Hoechst dyes exhibit relatively large Stock shifts (Excitation/Emission maxima ~350/460) making them suitable for multicolor labeling experiments. They are used in many cellular applications, including Cell-Cycle, apoptosis studies and they are common nuclear counterstains. We also offer other Hoechst dyes, special packaging and Extra Pure.
