EverFluor 558/568 C12 is an orange-fluorescent fatty acid that can be used live-cell membrane probe or as a building block for a variety of fluorescent phospholipids or other lipophilic probes. The carboxylic acid may be reacted with amines on peptides, proteins, modified nucleotides, biopolymers and other amine-containing biomolecules using a carbodiimide like EDAC or DIPC. Carboxylic acids may also be used to form ester-linked conjugates or acid-halide products. EverFluor 558/568 is optimally excited at 559 nm and is relatively environment and pH insensitive. The resulting EverFluor 558/568 labeled conjugates are brightly fluorescent in both aqueous and lipid environments. .
