3-(Dansylamino)phenylboronic acid is an environment-sensitive, fluorescent probe that reacts with vicinal diols (R-CHOH-CHOH-R') and certain amino alcohols to form cyclic complexes.  3-(Dansylamino)phenylboronic acid has been used for in-situ imaging and quantification of sialic acid on cell membrane surfaces. 3-(Dansylamino)phenylboronic acid is excited near 338 nm with fluorescent emission near 524 nm.
