7-Hydroxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid, C5-maleimide is a short-wavelength, blue-fluorescent, thiol-reactive dye for synthesis of blue fluorescent biomolecules. The maleimide group is selective for reaction with thiol groups on peptides, proteins, and other thiol-containing biomolecules when reacted at pH below 7.5. Conjugates of 7-Hydroxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid, C5-maleimide have a pH-dependent and environmentally sensitive fluorescence. Conjugates of 7-Hydroxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid, C5-maleimide are excited near 407 nm and have a fluorescence emission near 451 nm.
