EverFluor FL C5-Sphingomyelin is a green-fluorescent derivative of sphingomyelin, a sphingolipid that is found in animal cell membranes and the myelin sheath that surrounds some nerve cell axons. The brightly-fluorescent EverFluor FL dye is non-toxic, non-ionic and is relatively insensitive to environmental and pH changes. EverFluor FL dye also displays a unique concentration-dependent fluorescence emission shift from green to red, making this fluorescent probe useful for investigations of lipid uptake and transport, and endocytic pathways in living cells. .
