Hoechst 33342, trihydrochloride, trihydrate is a cell-permeant blue-fluorescent dye that exhibits a significant fluorescence enhancement upon binding to A-T regions in the minor grove of double stranded DNA. Hoechst dyes exhibit relatively large Stokes shifts (Excitation/Emission maxima near 350 nm/460 nm) and relatively low cytotoxicity making them suitable for multicolor labeling experiments in live cells. Hoechst 33342, trihydrochloride, trihydrate has been used in a variety of applications including nuclear counterstaining in immunofluorescent experiments, investigations of apoptosis pathways, and cell cycle studies.
