Acridine Orange is a cell-permeant, fluorescent dye that intercalates with nucleic acids in single and double stranded DNA and RNA. Acridine orange exhibits unique staining characteristics with nucleic acids and emits a green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA and a red fluorescence when bound to ssDNA and RNA. The weakly basic Acridine Orange also tends to accumulate in acidic lysosomes and may be used as a red-fluorescent lysosomal stain. Acridine Orange is excited near 502 nm with fluorescence emission near 525 nm when the dye is bound to dsDNA, and the excitation is near 460 nm with emission near 650 nm when the dye is bound to ssDNA or RNA. We offer Acridine Orange as a convenient, safe, and ready-to-use solution of 10 mg/mL in water. .
